Oil Check Requirement from Carwow
We wanted to update you on a new check process that Carwow has introduced, which now requires all suppliers to check the oil level of each vehicle upon collection.
To be transparent with you all, we challenged and pushed back on Carwow regarding the real-world necessity of this new requirement, but Carwow has now instructed that this be a mandatory step in their process with zero exceptions if we are to continue fulfilling their movements.
As we continue working with Carwow to ensure the process is as seamless as possible for both sides, we also value the strong partnership and consistent work Carwow provides for all of us.
The new carwow checklist will be introduced for all jobs being loaded, existing jobs will remain as they are.
What’s required on Carwow moves going forward
Every car (that isn’t a full EV) needs to have the bonnet lifted and the engine bay photographed.
Ensuring that the engine is not hot, and where there is an oil dipstick, you will be required to pull out the dipstick, wipe it, re-insert it, pull it out and photograph the oil level.
If the car has no dipstick: Having already taken a photo of the engine bay, now please take a photo of the dashboard display with the engine running and confirm on the checklist step that there is no oil level warning light illuminated.
If the Engine is Hot
We understand this can be a concern. Please proceed with caution, but If you feel uncomfortable carrying out this check due to a hot engine (or other practical issue), please pause the app and call Engineius Operations and inform both them and the dealer. We do not want you to be injured.
If there’s no or low oil
If the oil level is low or there’s no oil showing on the dipstick:
Call the dealership immediately. They should discuss this directly with the customer to resolve.
You are not required to fetch or top up the oil yourself. This is entirely the customer’s responsibility, should the dealer agree for them to do so.
If you’re challenged at any point, please contact Engineius Operations straight away.
Waste Disposal
Ask the customer if you can place any waste (e.g., used tissues, gloves) in their rubbish bin.
If not, it’s acceptable to place it in the passenger footwell storage, but please be mindful of excess residue so it doesn’t go onto the vehicle interior (top tip! turn the glove inside out and put the tissue inside)
We’d advise carrying some disposable gloves (similar to diesel filling pump gloves) and some paper towels with you, just in case the customer is unable to provide them.
We completely understand that this new step adds extra effort to your day, and we truly appreciate your continued professionalism.
If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Engineius Operations or your Driver Services Account Manager.
Thank you for representing us so well on the road
