Tell us more about what you do at Engineius?

As a DevOps Developer, my role involves combining software development with infrastructure management. I primarily work on the Portal, adding new features, improving existing ones, and ensuring our platform is scalable and reliable. This means I'm focused on making sure our systems are secure, available, and running smoothly, which directly impacts the efficiency and ease of every vehicle movement our drivers undertake.

Essentially, I help ensure the tech side of every trip runs like clockwork.

How did you find the trip overall?

It was great! While the weather was a bit warm, it was interesting to experience the full journey a driver has to take and to interact with the systems they use, like MoDel, from their perspective.

This experience will help me to better consider how the developments we do impact our drivers in their day-to-day work.

What did you enjoy most/what was the best part about your trip?

What I enjoyed most was experiencing the cutting-edge tech in a modern car. As someone with a keen interest in gadgets and efficient systems, getting to truly interact with and appreciate the vehicle's advanced features was a real highlight.

The massaging seats, in particular, were a very welcome and comfortable surprise, making the drive even more enjoyable.

Is there a location in the UK that you would like to travel through on your next job?

Having enjoyed the varied landscapes of the UK, I'd absolutely love to have a job take me through the Lake District.

While I enjoy my dog walks, experiencing its stunning beauty from the comfort of a car, focusing purely on the drive and the scenery, would be even nicer!

Any further comments?

I'm genuinely impressed by how smoothly the entire vehicle movement process works from a driver's perspective. It's a testament to the efficient systems and collaborative environment we have in place at Engineius, and it makes these jobs truly enjoyable.

What is your dream car?

My dream car is a Land Rover Defender.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

Outside of my work, I'm a big history fan. When I'm not working, you'll often find me exploring a National Trust property, immersing myself in the past and appreciating the stories they hold.

What did you do before Engineius?

Before joining Engineius, I worked in Healthcare Software, helping to develop systems that ensured hospitals always had the correct equipment and supplies in the right places through solutions like inventory management and auto-ordering.

That experience gave me a solid foundation in building robust and scalable applications, and it also piqued my interest in how technology can optimise complex operations, which eventually led me to the exciting challenges and innovative environment here at Engineius.
