Employee of the Month: Tom Hemming

Congratulations to Tom Hemming, our IT Support Engineer, for being awarded November Employee of the Month.

This month, our employees voted for their colleague who displays our can-do attitude value. Since joining Engineius in July 2023, Tom has consistently demonstrated a positive outlook and a proactive willingness to assist others with their IT challenges—whether it involves advising the classic "turn it off and on again" strategy or tackling more complex issues.

What do you do for Engineius?

My role is to ensure that the IT systems and equipment are running smoothly and securely and to troubleshoot any issues that arise. I also provide technical support and guidance to the staff and customers. I help with the installation and maintenance of new software and hardware.

Another part of my job is to evaluate our IT systems and examine whether further development or change is needed for those systems.

What motivates you to do well in your role?

I am motivated by the challenge and variety of my role, as I get to work with different technologies and platforms and learn new skills along the way. I also enjoy helping people and solving problems. I take pride in delivering high-quality service and support.

What playlist do you listen to in the car the most?

I listen to a lot of different genres and artists. I don’t listen to a specific playlist. A few artists/bands I enjoy are Loyle Carner, Milky Chance, and Sticky Fingers. I like to explore different genres as I appreciate how much skill and time is put into creating music.

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?

My favourite way to unwind after a busy day is to walk my dog. It’s nice to spend an hour or two out in nature. Another thing I enjoy doing is going indoor climbing when I have the time after work.

What do you like most about working for Engineius?

The company values its employees and their well-being and offers a flexible and supportive work environment and opportunities for learning and development. I feel that I am part of a company that is making a positive impact in the automotive industry and beyond.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?

The most interesting thing I’ve read this week is that the Eiffel Tower can be 15 cm taller during the summer due to heat expanding the structure.

Describe one thing you've learnt in your role?

One thing I’ve learnt is project management, and to recognise which projects require higher priority within the business. Something I have mastered within IT is the art of turning things off and on again 🥁.

What’s the most useless talent you have?

I can plug a USB into the slot without fail, first time, every time.
